September 16, 2004 – GE Fanuc Embedded Systems, Inc has introduced the VMIVME-7807, a next generation 6U, single slot VME single board computer (SBC) that integrates the Intel? Pentium? M processor with up to 1.5 Gbyte DDR SDRAM, one PCI-X, 66 MHz PMC expansion slot, dual Gigabit Ethernet, and up to 1 GB of CompactFlash memory. Operating at up to 1.8 GHz, this SBC provides hih bandwidth and processing power and is ideal for I/O intensive applications. GE Fanuc Embedded Systems showcased the product at the 2004 Embedded Systems Conference, September 14-15, Boston, Booth #1208.“With the addition of the VMIVME-7807, GE Fanuc is positioned to deliver on the next generation of backplane innovation,” said Douglas Albert, president, GE Fanuc Embedded Systems. “This new SBC demonstrates GE Fanuc’s technology leadership and commitment to providing embedded solutions that comply with the latest standards, including VITA 31.1 – which provides a method for Gigabit Ethernet communications on a VME backplane.”“By integrating the Intel? Pentium? M processor into their VMIVME-7807 single board computer, GE Fanuc can deliver a platform that meets current and future embedded computing demands of their customers,” Steve Sciarappo, director of operations, Infrastructure Processor Division, Intel Corporation, said. “With hibandwidth and processing power on a robust platform, this new SBC offers an excellent embedded solution for both military and commercial applications.”The VMIVME-7807 offers two different Dual Gigabit Ethernet configurations. In the first configuration, one 10/100/1000BaseT Ethernet port is routed to the front panel and the other is routed to the rear P2 connector. In the second configuration, both 10/100/1000BaseT Ethernet ports are routed to the rear P0 connector to support VITA 31.1 (Gigabit Ethernet on VME64x Backplanes). Additional front panel support includes one 10/100BaseT Ethernet port, two USB 2.0 ports, SVGA, one high performance serial port, and a PS/2 connection. Rear I/O support includes two additional USB 2.0 ports, three serial ports, Serial ATA, IDE, and DVI interface. The VMIVME-7807 provides two 16-bit, two 32-bit and one watchdog software programmable timers. Operating system support includes Windows? 2000, Windows XP?, QNX?, Linux?, and VxWorks?.GE Fanuc Embedded System’s VMIVME-7807 will be available in late November.About GE Fanuc Embedded SystemsGE Fanuc Embedded Systems, Inc is a part of GE Fanuc Automation, a joint venture between GE and FANUC LTD of Japan.
